Government Document of the Month: February

Celebrate Black History Month with Government Documents and the February Document of the Month featuring the Tuskegee Airmen.  There is also a LibGuide for additional information located at http://libguides.southalabama.edu/tuskeegee courtesy of Enoch Pratt Free Library.  If possible, see the movie, Redtails, now playing at the local cinema as well.

Government Documents has also published other stories of the history of the African American soldier serving in the Armed Forces.  A few of these are on display as well.  The display is located on the first floor of the library in the Government Document section.

December Government Document of the Month

The Document of the Month for December helps answer that question all students face:

WHAT ARE YOUR POST-GRADUATION PLANS?
Look to Government Documents for the answer.  The Occupational Outlook Handbook and the Occupational Outlook Quarterly from the U.S. Department of Labor feature many different and sometimes unique careers.   Another good resource is the State magazine from the U.S. Department of State.  The display is located at the beginning of the library’s Federal Document Collection.

Be a Hero for Homeless Animals!

Blackwell Library is starting their annual collection for the homeless pets in 2 area shelters now through Dec. 16.  The Humane Society of Wicomico County and the Somerset County Animal Control need many items to help the dogs and cats currently awaiting adoption.  Suggestions for donations are listed near the collection boxes for the items.  The boxes are located near the circulation desk in the library.  Thanks for your help!
