The Blackwell computer lab will be open for Exam Week! Here's the schedule:

Monday, December 14 8am-10pm
Tuesday, December 15 8am-10pm
Wednesday, December 16 8am-10pm
Thursday, December 17 8am-10pm
Friday, December 18 8am-5pm

Attention Faculty Who Use Course Reserves and E-Reserves

Our wonderful Course Reserves and Access Services staff member, Susan Wheatley, will be retiring this month. We are sad to see her go, but wish her a relaxing and enjoyable retirement!

Meanwhile, The World of Course Reserves will continue to turn, and we have enlisted some new staff to make the World of Course Reserves turn as smoothly as possible! So, starting in January, Susie Ruddy will be processing the traditional paper Course Reserves, while Debbie Malone will be processing e-Reserves. Please let these very capable and knowledgeable ladies know if you have any questions!

Help is coming your way!

Feeling stressed about semester deadlines? Need last minute help with your assignments? Help is coming your way! During the week of December 7-11, SU librarians will be available to assist you from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at these locations:

Henson

And, as always, a friendly librarian will be at the Research Help desk in the library from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Access World News Trial!

Blackwell Library is pleased to announce trial access to Access World News: Research Collections. You can test out this databases by navigating to this page and clicking Access World News. A description of the database follows:

Access World News: Research Collection
Research unique current and archived news content for information on topics, events, issues, people, businesses, and more through this in-depth resource. Easy online access to local, in-state, national and international news sources, including newspapers, broadcast transcripts, newswires, news blogs, news web-only content and video. Alerts and "my personal" functionality helps students and faculty track and manage their research projects.

Calling All Animal Lovers!

The student group Leash on Life is once again accepting donations of pet items for three area animal shelters: Wicomico County Humane Society, Good Shepherd Cat Sanctuary, and Somerset County Animal Control. A list of suggestions for donations is available by the donation boxes in Blackwell Library. Items will be collected through December 18th.

Leash on Life is a group who volunteers at the Wicomico County Human Society walking and playing with the dogs and cats. Add to the great work done by these generous volunteers by donating items for homeless pets!

Food for Fines!

Need to pay library fines? Want to help feed the hungry? We have an opportunity for you to do both in one fell swoop!

From November 9-15, Blackwell Library will waive $2 of your library fines for every food item donated, up to $10. We'd especially like to collect traditional Thanksgiving foods, but we'll take anything non-perishable.

So come on over to Blackwell with your food items anytime between the 9th and 15th. Pay your fines and help a family feast! What could be better?!
