Did you know that Blackwell Library is home to FOUR new librarians this semester? Stop by and introduce yourself sometime to:
Moushumi (Mou) Chakraborty, Head of Public Services
mxchakraborty@salisbury.edu 410-677-0116
Mou recently joined the staff of Blackwell Library at Salisbury University (SU) as the Head of Public Services. Prior to this, she was the Special Collections/Reference Librarian at University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) for a short period. She was the Distance & Instructional Technology Librarian at the Alvin Sherman Library at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) for quite a few years before moving to Maryland in 2006. She holds an MA in English from University of Calcutta, India and an MLS from University of Missouri-Columbia, USA. She was also working on her third Masters in Computing Technology in Education (MCTE) at NSU. Assuming a new position as the Head of Public Services at the Blackwell Library, she supervises the Access Services and the Research Services. She is now more involved with administrative duties and serves on the University Curriculum Committee. She is also the new Distance Education coordinator. Mou is originally from Calcutta, India, but has been in the United States for many years. She is a classical Indian dancer; she has directed and choreographed numerous programs in India as well as in the United States. She also enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her little daughter (who keeps her busy but she wouldn't have it otherwise J).
Mandy Hackley, Business/Instructional Librarian
mlhackley@salisbury.edu 410-677-0131 BL129
Mandy received her BA in History and Literature from Bowling Green State University in 2000. In 2004, she earned her MLS from Kent State. She began her career in librarianship at Bowling Green State University's periodicals desk as a freshman and continued working at Jerome Library on a part time and full time basis until arriving at Blackwell Library in August. While she worked part time at Jerome, she managed a branch library for the Wood County District Public Library. She lives with her dog Isabelle Patricia and enjoys reading, watching films, and has a healthy obsession with the television program 30 Rock.
Krista Knapp, Reference/Instructional Librarian - Web Page
kmknapp@salisbury.edu 410-677-0118 BL129
Krista worked at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, as reference and instruction librarian and as Coordinator of Access Services before coming to Salisbury University in July. She received both her BA in Psychology and her MLS in library science from Indiana University in Bloomington. Before becoming a librarian, she had stints as a secretary, teacher's aide, tutor, and piano teacher. Her professional interests include information literacy, instructional technology, faculty-librarian collaboration and social networking. Outside of her professional pursuits, she is a busy mom to three sons, ages 10, 7, and 2. She also enjoys singing, shopping, photography, scrapbooking, hiking, the theatre, and going to the beach (which is a lot easier to do here than in Indiana!)
Martha Zimmerman, Head of Technical Services
mczimmerman@salisbury.edu 410-677-0110
Martha earned her MLS at UMCP in 1983 and has held a variety of positions in academic, public, and special libraries. Prior to her employment at Blackwell Library she was the Acting Director of Library Services at UMES. In addition to the MLS, she has pursued graduate study in philosophy and intellectual history at the Catholic University of America and The Johns Hopkins University. In partnership with her Morgan horse, Elmhurst’s Crown Royal, she has competed successfully in dressage, winning several national awards. ‘Elroy’ and Martha now spend quality time trail riding and carriage driving for pleasure. Martha is also a published poet, whose works have appeared in the Emerald Coast Review and Maryland Review.
