Library Invests $50,000 in Seminal Works

Since 2008, the library has been slowly acquiring works in Resources for College Libraries (RCL).  RCL represents the work of 332 U.S. college and university faculty and librarians. They identified the core books every college and university library should own.

There were nearly 48,000 titles not in Blackwell collections. From those, faculty chose about 6,500 titles that directly supported their classes. During last summer and this fall, the library began ordering almost the last of these. Rounding out materials on composers, music history and the psychology of and techniques of performance, Blackwell recently began placing orders for 401 music books ($20,000). An additional 494 works ($30,000) in biology, covering genetics, bioethics, bioinformatics, mathematical modeling, and teaching science are in the queue.

You deserve the best, and we’re working hard to bring it to you.  Happy reading!
