Indian Dolls and Musical Instruments Exhibit at Blackwell

Blackwell Library is pleased to announce a new exhibit featuring Indian Dolls and Musical Instruments. This exhibit is in conjunction with the larger celebration of SU’s “India and the Sub-Continent” cultural series. The exhibit is also part of the Bharatnatyam (Indian classical dance) series of workshops that end on Sept 14th and the Sari Fashion Show which is on September 16th.

The dolls are dressed in typical Indian outfits, some in dance costumes. The musical instruments include the table, harmonium, guitar, and tanpura. The elephant-headed God, Ganesha (revered as the Remover of Obstacles) is seen playing various instruments.

We are displaying several entries from the Designer's Cup Challenge, a bra art competition in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The challenge is designed to raise awareness and educate about the disease. Come check it out! More info here!
